Wedding season is winding down, and football season is fast approaching! Huh? Do these two things really have anything to do with each other? In East Lansing, yes! First of all, many couples that are choosing to get married in East Lansing are Spartans and don’t want to get married on game day (and miss a game?, heck no!). They also will be more limited in their selection of venues in the area, as well as unable to get around campus to take photos near Sparty or at the Botanical Gardens because frankly, it’s like Times Square during tailgate on game day. And don’t forget about your out of town guests that will also have a difficult time finding a hotel room nearby, which are booked a year or two in advance for big games and night games. Usually one of our biggest wedding weekends of the year is whatever weekend is the bye week for MSU. In addition to all of this, you also have the NFL season starting, which also brings around the ever time consuming Fantasy Football (distraction from wedding planning anyone?).
For us, the success of the MSU football team has been nothing short of a dream come true. Besides bleeding green as a Spartan myself, the event opportunities have only increased as the football program continues to succeed. We are getting more and more involved with the MSU Alumni Association (for which we are lifetime members!), as well as creating a fun floral design piece as a result of our 2014 ROSE BOWL VICTORY for a very special wedding. Amanda & Chris, you guys rock! Seriously, look how much fun they are, how much fun their wedding was, and check out those groomsmen gifts in the photos below!
More corporate clients are having upscale tailgates requiring extensive decor because they want to be a part of something special, and our inventory of MSU specific linens has vastly increased. With the streamline of an official MSU green color, we were able to nail down a very, very close match of linens and our Spartan clients really appreciate that effort and availability. Additionally, as a floral designer, I have really been challenged (in a fun way!) to find new and creative ways to create green & white florals without the designs looking boring and repetitive.
Just for fun, I’ve included a few photos from some MSU events we’ve done this past year (even one on the practice field!) , a photo of myself with MARK DANTONIO!, and some wedding photos of our close friends who really incorporated some MSU love into their amazing reception at Spartan Stadium this winter.
Happy August and Go Green!
